How To Plan and Script Your YouTube Video
Dec 18, 2019How to plan and script your YouTube video will help make sure you include everything you intended to say, and also format your video in the way YouTube, and your viewers prefer.
But before I get going, here are the links mentioned in today’s video:

Now, I know there are many types of video posted on YouTube, but for this article I’m talking about the tutorial, how’s type video you might post if you’re a coach, trainer, consultant or run a similar hope based, people centred business.
You might be asking why on earth a video should be scripted…well, on a platform where the viewer is encouraged to scroll through content and tends to make a decision as to whether or not to watch your video in 3-5 seconds, it’s important to let them know what it’s going to be about, or at least engage their curiosity as quickly as possible. Even once you’ve done that, it’s important to:
- Be able to offer value, after all your YouTube channel is probably part of your overall marketing effort designed to lead prospective customers and clients towards your business, and
- Be short enough so they (hopefully) stay till the end of your video, after which they’d be more likely to watch some more. So, what needs to be in your script…and what is a script?
Well, with scripting, it can be flexible. You can read from a fully written, word-by-word script verbatim, or be directed by a few key words or bullet-points, or something in-between.
So long as your script is well thought out and a logical flow of thoughts that will enable you to communicate that flow of thought’s on a video, then whatever that script actually looks like, it’s probably the right one for you. And the other reason you could probably benefit from using a script to make your YouTube videos, is that to make them appear as professional and appealing as possible, you need to include a lot of information, and a script will help you do that.
So, let’s jump in:
