Kajabi vs. Teachable: An In-Depth Comparison 2023
Jul 10, 2023In the rapidly growing world of online coaching, education and training, choosing the right platform to host, interact and work with your clients, and sell your courses is crucial. Whilst there are many platforms out there, two popular options many online creators use are Kajabi and Teachable. That's why this week, I want to delve into the four main areas, sharing the features and benefits of both platforms, in the hope it can help you make an informed decision if you're considering where to host your membership, online course or other aspects of your business in 2023.
1. Course Creation and Customisation
Kajabi and Teachable offer robust course creation tools, allowing you to develop and structure your content effectively. Kajabi provides a comprehensive course builder that simplifies uploading and organizing course materials. It also offers customizable themes, enabling you to design your course, membership and website to reflect your brand identity. On the other hand, Teachable offers a user-friendly interface with drag-and-drop functionality, making it easy to create engaging lessons. While both platforms offer customisation options, I think Kajabi provides a more extensive range of tools and design possibilities.
2. Marketing and Sales Features
Regarding marketing and sales, Kajabi and Teachable offer distinct features. Kajabi is known for its all-in-one marketing capabilities, including email marketing, sales funnels, and landing page creation (I'm currently using it for this newsletter and blog post). It provides powerful tools to help you build sales pipelines, upsell products, and automate marketing campaigns. On the other hand, Teachable offers a more straightforward approach, focusing on core features such as coupon codes, affiliate marketing, and integrated payment gateways. While Teachable may be more beginner-friendly, Kajabi's advanced marketing features make it a preferred choice for seasoned course creators looking to grow their businesses and optimise sales funnels.
3. Community and Engagement
Building a thriving community around your coaching, membership programmes, and online courses can greatly enhance the learning experience. Kajabi offers a community feature that allows students to interact through discussions, comments, and private messaging. It also allows creating membership sites, granting exclusive access to certain content for specific groups. Teachable, although lacking a built-in community feature, offers integrations with third-party tools like Facebook groups or Slack, enabling course creators to foster and build engagement. Depending on your specific needs, Kajabi's native community features may be more convenient.
4. Pricing and Affordability
Pricing is an essential factor to consider when selecting an online resource platform for your business. Teachable offers a range of plans, including a free option, making it accessible to users with a limited budget. Its paid plans provide additional features like graded quizzes and advanced reports. Kajabi, on the other hand, is generally considered more expensive but offers a more comprehensive package of features, including memberships, online courses, email marketing, webinars, mailing lists and marketing, and website hosting. It also eliminates the need for third-party integrations, which can save costs in the long run. If you're looking for an all-in-one solution with advanced features, Kajabi may justify its higher price tag.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, deciding whether to invest in Kajabi and Teachable depends on your specific needs, budget, and level of expertise. Whilst one might seem more expansive and the other more straightforward, it's true to say that there will be a learning curve for each. Consider the features outlined in this comparison and take the time to explore both platforms to determine if either might align with your business goals in 2023.
FREE 30-Day Trial + Quick Start Guide
I’ve used several platforms and providers during my 20+ years as a coach, trainer and course creator; since 2016, my platform of choice has been Kajabi. That’s why nowadays, I like to allow new online creators to try everything (and I mean the WHOLE platform) for 30 days for FREE. Plus, if you continue to use Kajabi after that 30-day FREE trial period, I’ll also give you access to my Kajabi Quick Start mini course, where I walk you through everything from the Kajabi Dashboard to building web, landing or sales pages, creating blogs and newsletters, and how to create and manage an online course using Kajabi. That sounds like A LOT, I know, which is why I decided to create a step-by-step 4-week mini-video course you can work through and watch as many times as you wish at your own pace.
To get access to the FREE 30-day trial (Kajabi only offer 14 days on their website), you must use the following link – and full disclosure, this is my Kajabi affiliate link, meaning if you sign-up I earn a small percentage of the revenue at no additional cost to you – plus it helps me be able to create more content like this and the Quick Start course, so it's my way of paying it forwards, too.
